News and Announcements

Well, it was another tough game, but we couldn't be more proud of how well you all played. The final score was 23-1 in favor of a tough Niskayuna team, but the score doesn't even come close to describing the game. The first half was very difficult and ended with the score 20-0. Most teams would have been tempted to start thinking about what was on the Disney Channel that night, but not our Eagles. At halftime, we made some adjustments to our defense by not having you stay in the "paint". Your determination and "never give up" attitude made a huge difference. You all did a wonderful job adjusting to our new gameplan on the fly, and what a difference in the second half. The score in the second half was 3 to 1 with our first point of the season coming from Abbi. Nice shot! As you grow up, you will be faced with many challenging situations and it will be a test of your character as to how you respond. Tonight, you all showed that the tougher things get, the harder we try. Eagle Pride was definitely soaring high tonight! We would also like to thank all of the parents that helped out tonight with the score table, admissions table and concession table. Your efforts as always are very much appreciated. See you Monday night at practice. The Coaches ___________________________

Game Summary: Bethlehem vs. Albany

We had our first game today and it was quite an experience! We were so proud of the way you Eagles played and hung in there against a very tough — and very TALL — team. Albany didn't make it easy for you, but that's sports, isn't it? You guys played so hard, and did many things so right, and we couldn't have asked for anything more. Here's just a few of the great things we coaches noticed: • Our work on getting your arms up to block shots really paid off. We had quite a few of those. • We saw some awesome steals. quick hands + quick feet + brave hearts = Eagles steals • You really started to get the hang of good defensive positioning in the paint, especially in the 2nd half. It was hard when the other team could just throw it over your head, and shoot over your hands, but good positioning made it much tougher for them • There were some great passes today. Again, they were tough to pass around, but we made some really good ones... passes that led to open shots that came ohhhh sooooooo close. • We showed some very good dribbling today against a lot of pressure. Keep working at home on your ball-handling skills, and you'll just keep getting better and better. • And last but not least, you played with a lot of heart. You cheered each other on from the bench, you came to help your teammates when they were in trouble, and you held your heads high. All of Bethlehem would've been proud of you today. Remember, that was your first game. You have so much to learn. We coaches do, too. It was even the referee's first game today. :-) We can't wait to get back in the gym next week and start working on some of those things we know we need to improve on. Be proud of yourselves, Eagles. ___________________________
